Vocaloid 2: Kagamine Rin 10

vocaloid 2 cosplay - kagamine rin 10Kagamine Rin is the third character to have reached 10 features in Cosplay Holic! In case you missed it, the first one was Hatsune Miku who is also from Vocaloid, and the second was Kuran Kaname from Vampire Knight.

I guess this goes to show how popular Miku, Kaname, and Rin are. Then again, Kaname is one of my favorite characters, so it may be a little biased… just a little! Thanks to China for suggesting this!

Vocaloid 2: Hatsune Miku 15

vocaloid 2 cosplay - hatsune miku 15 from comiket 2010There has been an overwhelming amount of high quality Miku cosplayers lately that… I am running out of things to say about her! She is, however, one of those rare characters who have so many different outfits that it’s hard to keep track.

So does anyone of my readers know which video or soundtrack this Miku is from? Thanks to Ys for sending this!

Vocaloid 2: Kagamine Rin and Len 03

vocaloid 2 cosplay - kagamine rin and len 03 by noah and major edward elric of deviant artAs the song, Himitsu ~Kuro no Chikai~, goes:

There was a fallen, featherless angel

And the only one who offered help was the Devil

Who would have known that the vow she had made

Would make everything she had loved blur and fade away?

Cosplayer Noah is the angelic Kagamine Rin and Major Edward Elric is Kagamine Len! I really love how Rin’s wings came out. Thanks to Mika for sending this! Merry Christmas everyone!

Vocaloid 2: Megurine Luka 05

vocaloid 2 cosplay - megurine luka 05The first bilingual vocaloid to be released, Megurine Luka has an extensive Japanese dictionary on par with previous Japanese Vocaloids. However, her English is more limited than English Vocaloids. Despite her songs needing more attention when creating English lyrics, she has superior capabilities of the English language with only occasional Japanese accents.

So pretty! And what lovely shoes. I normally hate gold shoes, but her boots are probably the only exception. Thanks to Pinchy for sending this in!

Vocaloid 2: Hatsune “Snow” Miku

vocaloid 2 cosplay - hatsune snow mikuThe blue and silver “Snow Miku” was originally a figure to commemorate the snow sculpture created for the 61st Sapporo Snow Festival in Japan. Now it’s also a cosplay endeavor by many fans with amazing results!

Chamaro is the cosplayer behind this “real” Snow Miku and I have to say, it’s a refreshing look for one of the most popular cosplays in Cosplay Holic! Thanks to Mikan for sending this!

Vocaloid 2: Hatsune Miku 13

vocaloid 2 cosplay hatsune miku as kagamine rin from comiket 2010Isn’t this one of the most unique (if not confusing) cosplays you’ve ever seen?

I wasn’t sure whether I should label this as Hatsune Miku or Kagamine Rin. In the end, I had to decide she was Hatsune Miku cosplaying as Kagamine Rin.

A cosplayed character cosplaying as another character. Now that’s definitely something! Thanks again to Tanaka for the contribution!

Vocaloid 2: Kagamine Rin and Len 02

vocaloid 2 cosplay - karamine rin and len 02 from comiket 2010Since they were based on the same voice provider or seiyuu, Kagamine Rin and Len successfully harmonize with one another and are often used in duets. They have a similar range and depth to their predecessor, Hatsune Miku. However, most users consider Len to be more difficult to work with than his counterpart, Rin.

So cute! They look like they’re wearing their own interpreted version of Miku’s classic outfit! Thanks to again to Reese for sending this!

Vocaloid 2: Megurine Luka, Hatsune Miku, Kagamine Rin and Len

Megurine Luka, Hatsune Miku, Kagamine Rin and Len are all part of the second installment of Vocaloid, a voice synthesizer that has hopeful song writers create several Japanese songs in different genres. Miku was the second to be released in the series, followed by Rin and Len, and finally Luka.

I’m wondering why the girls are all wearing similar outfits. Is this from another song I have yet to hear about? Thanks to Padme for sending this!

Vocaloid 2: Hatsune Miku 11

vocaloid 2 cosplay - hatsune miku 11 from comiket 1010When I mentioned having a liking for Miku’s original outfit, but having a soft spot for gothic lolita, I didn’t expect to find a cosplayer wearing something like this.

Needless to say, I am most pleasantly surprised.

Anyone know which of Miku’s songs this ensemble's from? Thanks to Marika for sending this!

Vocaloid 2: Megurine Luka 03

vocaloid 2 cosplay - megurine luka 03 from comiket 2010Unlike Hatsune Miku and Kagamine Rin and Len, Megurine Luka’s vocal database is Japanese/English bilingual. Her name was chosen to express Crypton’s hope that she will transcend borders and cultural barriers. Since her voice provider is Japanese, she often sounds like she has a notable Japanese accent when singing in English. Previous Japanese vocaloids who were used to sing in English, however, often had a stronger accent than Luka.

Hasn’t Santa come a little early this year? Not that anyone is complaining, I’m sure. Thanks to Chloe for sending this in!

Vocaloid 2: Kagamine Rin and Len

vocaloid 2 cosplay - kagamine rin and len by enearn and asumichan

Kabosoi higa kokoro no hashini tomoru
A slender flame burns at the edge of my heart

Itsu no manika moehirogaru netsujou
Without warning, it spreads into a burning passion

Watashi no chou fukisokuni tobimawari
My butterfly, flitting around it chaotically

Anata no teni rinpun wo tsuketa
Scales dropping into your hand

Cosplayers ~enearn and ~AsumiChan from the song "Magnet" which was originally sung by Hatsune Miku and Megurine Luka! Thanks to this awesome contribution by Gackt-lover!

Vocaloid: Kaito 03

vocaloid cosplay - kaito 03 black rock shooter by kanameBurakku Rokku Shuutaa hitori ja nai yo
Black Rock Shooter, you’re not alone

Koe o agete naitatte kamawanai
I don’t mind even if you cry with a loud voice

Burakku Rokku Shuutaa mite ite kureru
Black Rock Shooter, you’ll be watching me

Ima kara hajimaru no watashi no monogatari
My story will start from now

Wasuresou ni nattara kono uta o
When you seem to be forgetting it, I’ll sing

Utau no
This song

Although I would say this is the male version of Black Rock Shooter, cosplayer Kaname tagged this photo in his gallery as Kaito. Maybe Kaito has a version of the song Black Rock Shooter? In any case, there’s no use arguing with the cosplayer… Awesome work as usual, Kaname!

Vocaloid 2: Kagamine Len and Rin

vocaloid 2 cosplay - kagamine len and rinA project that was originally intended for a low-teen girl's voice following after Hatsune Miku, Kagamine Len and Rin were created to satisfy the demand for a boy's version Vocaloid. Their family name literally means “mirror sound” and Crypton Future Media Ltd. wished to distribute them as twins, but this marketing strategy was not carried out.

Shimoda Asami is the seiyuu behind the voices of Kagamine Len and Rin. I love the costumes the cosplayers chose for this shoot, and I’m willing to bet it was inspired from another song they made. Thanks to Channel for sending this in!

Vocaloid 2: Hatsune Miku 10

In honor of the first character to reach 10 cosplay features in Cosplay Holic, here is a video of Cosplayer Yumiko dancing to Hatsune Miku’s song “Strobo Nights”.

And of course, Cosplay Holic is in its Hatsune Miku Edition now (meaning: new banner, if you haven’t noticed it yet). Thanks for all the support! And thank you to all the awesome cosplayers and readers that make this site possible!

Vocaloid 2: Hatsune Miku 09

vocaloid 2 cosplay - hatsune mike 09Hatsune Miku will probably be the first character in Cosplay Holic to reach 10 different cosplayers. But, I guess you never know..!

Here is another Hatsune Miku from MoeHaku 2010 and she's probably posing by the same car as the other Miku. Among the many different costumes she's been in though, this is still my favorite. You simply can't beat the original design. Unless it's a gothic Miku simply because I have a soft spot for gothic lolita styles.

Third Miku from Riffonliner! Thanks again for your contribution!

Vocaloid 2: Hatsune Miku 08

vocaloid 2 cosplay - hatsune miku 08

I must apologize for the flood of Miku/Vocaloid Cosplays lately, but it seems to be the trend these days.

I'm guessing she is also from "World is Mine" version like the Miku from Winter Comiket 2009, but I am definitely not a Miku expert. I love the car details and if you look closely, there is a chibi Miku on the dashboard, which looks like the winter version too. Thanks again to Riffonliner for the photo!

Vocaloid 2: Megurine Luka 02

vocaloid 2 cosplay - megurine luka 02Unlike Hatsune Miku and Kagamine Rin and Len, Megurine Luka's costume is not based on a school uniform. This is probably because Luka has a "moody yet husky female voice" with a "cool, somewhat mysterious" character. One of the first few songs produced, "RIP=RELEASE" took the number one spot on the 70th Weekly Vocaloid Ranking. The song earned 843,233 points during its first week, the highest one-week score ever recorded.

Beautiful MoeHaku Luka! I didn't even know this was her official costume until I received this contribution. Thanks, Wikia!

Vocaloid 2: Hatsune Miku and Kagamine Rin

vocaloid 2 cosplay - hatsune miku and kagamine rinYou know that a character has reached new heights when a fan decides to launch a petition to create a custom made plate of the said character that will be used as a balancing weight for a... spacecraft explorer?!

That is exactly what Sumio "chodensi-P" Morioka did. In November 2009, he started the Hatsune Miku aluminum plate petition for the Japanese Venus spacecraft explorer, Akatsuki, which will be launched in summer of 2010. Dr. Seiichi Sakamoto of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency backed him up but only reached the 10,000 signatures necessary after the original deadline; 20th of December 2009. However, due to the delays in the Akatsuki project, a new deadline, 6th of January 2010 was set, and the project received over 14,000 signatures.

Awesome fanbase with great cosplayers too! It makes me wonder what songs this Miku and Rin are in. Thanks to Riffonliner for emailing the photo!
